Turbomachinery and Pump Symposium 2017 (Pre-announcement)

Centrifugal pumps convey hazardous, toxic and supercritical fluids in the chemical industry as well as the oil and gas industry.

As part of the Turbomachinery and Pump Symposium (TPS) 2017 in Houston, Texas, Lewa-Nikkiso America, Inc. is putting the focus on Nikkiso centrifugal canned motor pumps. The centrifugal pumps are exceptionally well-suited to conveying hazardous, toxic and supercritical fluids in the chemical industry as well as the oil and gas industry. In addition, the showcase includes a demo version of the LEWA ecoflow diaphragm metering pump and an ecosmart where visitors can follow along with the pump process live.

The Nikkiso centrifugal canned motor pumps are used as the pump of choice for transfer and circulation tasks in the chemical industry and meet the specifications of the API 685 standard. They operate at pressures up to 40 bar, providing flow rates up to 1,200 m³/h as a result. The model has outstanding high-pressure characteristics thanks to the encapsulated and leakproof design where both the pump and motor are integrated. This provides not only environmental protection but operating reliability as well. At the same time, the centrifugal canned motor pump requires very little space, making it ideal for applications with a small installation footprint.

LEWA ecoflow metering pumps are equipped with a sandwich diaphragm made of PTFE and are driven by a motor with a frequency inverter. They are ideal for high discharge pressures and offer a reproducible metering accuracy of ±1 percent. Thanks to the patented DPS diaphragm protection system, the pumps offer exceptional process safety and reliability, allowing them to be started safely from any operating state. This makes the series ideal for applications that call for precise recipe settings as well as high product quality that stays consistent for years. In addition, the ecoflow has the advantage that, unlike other types of pumps, it does not require any lubrication from the fluid.

The LEWA ecosmart diaphragm metering pump provides versatile, dependable installation options with its absolute suction pressure of up to 0.1 bar. The pump is able to achieve very high levels of metering accuracy regardless of the fluid being used as a result of adjusting the motor speed and because of the manual stroke adjustment option. At pressures of up to 80 bar, the ecosmart can convey flow rates up to 300 l/h as a single pump. The hydraulically actuated PTFE sandwich diaphragm is monitored by the DPS diaphragm protection system during the process.
