„Girls & Technology“: schoolgirls build basketball hoop for their school

Again this year, several schoolgirls from Johannes-Kepler high school in Leonberg were invited to LEWA to learn about the work of industrial companies. The girls had the task to produce an object their school needed.

Within the framework of the project „Girls & Technology“ last year’s participants built a sofa out of steel.

This year, the participating pupils decided to build a basketball hoop for their schoolyard. With the help of the trainers and LEWA’s apprentices, the hoop was completed within one week. In the project, the girls learned about different technologies of wood- and metalworking. In addition, they could control several machines. Before the manufacturing phase, they made CAD drawings of the basketball hoop.
